Festival of the sea Gunpowder run,portsmouth harbour
A live re-enactment of the Gunpowder Run, Saturday June 11th 2005 portsmouth harbour,uk.
The 200th Anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar,A live re-enactment by various groups in the SOLENT area.
Gunpowder Run that would have been carried out by crews before HMS Victory left for the Battle of Trafalgar.
The Gunpowder Run leaves Priddy’s Hard in Gosport for Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
Gunpowder for HMS Victory was supplied from Priddy’s Hard in Gosport.
The barrels would be transported across Portsmouth Harbour by rowing boat.
A rowing parade across Portsmouth Harbour, with the Victory Cutter(photos 9 and 11) as the lead boat ,rowing from Priddy’s Hard,
down the western channel and finishing on the Warrior Slipway at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
The run itself through the Harbour was won by the 'HMS Pickle' crew from HMS Sultan,
second were the Victory Cutter Crew and third were gosport exsplosion museum.
Other team awards where given out for 'Best Dressed' and 'Best Seamanship' honours.
The Explosion! Whaler Team won the Best Dressed award and the 'Best Seamanship' award went to the Lee on Solent Team..
